Featured Wine: Pinot Noir
Of the
classic wine grape varieties in popular use today, Pinot Noir is among the oldest.
Pinot Noir is known to have been cultivated in Burgundy France for most of the
past 2,000 years. Pinot Noir has a relatively low acidity and a soft, finesse
when weather conditions are right, as they are in Oregon. The volcanic soils
of Oregon also contribute a delicacy that enhances the flavor. Noble Estate
Pinot Noir benefits from the state's marine weather and treasure trove of ancient
volcanic and seabed soils. Pinot Noir will have less complexity if it lacks
mineral content, it will lack definition and clarity. For these reasons, Oregon
has surpassed even France as the ideal place to grow Pinot Noir grapes.
